Dr. Mark Cornwell

Dr Mark Cornwell is a Gastroenterologist with a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Liver Disease.
Mark Cornwell studied Medicine at the University of Queensland and undertook Physician training at the Royal Prince Alfred and Princess Alexandra Hospitals before completing Gastroenterology training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Dr. Terry Holt

Dr. Holt is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist based full-time in the Ipswich area since 2005.

Dr. Holt began his career as an analytical chemist. He joined the Children’s Nutrition Research Centre, Royal Children’s Hospital, where he worked from 1983 to 1992, becoming a Senior Research Fellow and completing a Ph.D in the metabolic consequences of chronic disease at the Royal Children’s Hospital and University of Queensland in 1990. During this time he authored over two dozen papers in this field, was a visiting researcher at the MRC Dunn Nutrition centre, Cambridge University, and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London.

Dr. Basil Almehdawy

Dr Basil Almehdawy is a Queensland trained Consultant Gastroenterologist, he finished an Advanced Luminal endoscopy fellowship at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, focused at advanced polypectomy, small bowel endoscopy (balloon assisted enteroscopy and video capsule endoscopy) and gastro-luminal stricture management.

Dr. Akhilesh Swaminathan

Akhilesh is an Australasian-trained Gastroenterologist who graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2013. He completed his specialist training at Christchurch and Auckland, New Zealand and was awarded Fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2023. Following this, he completed subspecialist training in inflammatory bowel diseases at The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne where he gained further expertise on managing complex cases in a large multi-disciplinary team and was trained in performing gastrointestinal ultrasound. In 2024, he graduated with a a PhD from the University of Otago with a doctoral thesis that focussed on research surrounding non-invasive disease assessment and providing holistic care when managing inflammatory bowel disease.

Louisa Stephens

Louisa Stephens (MDietSc. BHlthSc.) is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and nutritionist registered with the Dietitians’ Association Australia. Louisa is an IBS Specialist Dietitian and director of Nutrition Wisdom. She has completed a Bachelor of Health Science and a Masters in Dietetics at the University of Queensland. She founded Nutrition Wisdom in 2016 with a vision to provide high-quality health and nutrition counselling to clients.

Dr. Szymon Ostrowski

Dr. Ostrowski is a Queensland-trained Gastroenterologist who graduated from Griffith University in 2011. He completed his specialist training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and was awarded Fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2022.

Dr. Niwansa Adris is a highly skilled physician with a broad range of expertise in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. After graduating from Monash University, he went on to achieve Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2021.

Dr. Samapriya (Pasan) Hewawasam

Dr. Hewawasam is an experienced Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with dual board certification in both Australia and Sri Lanka.

Dr. Christopher Yin Hiew Kia

Dr. Kia is an Australian-trained Interventional Gastroenterologist with public appointments at the Prince Charles Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Dr. Kia graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2009 and was accepted as a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2019. After completing his core Gastroenterology and Hepatology training in Melbourne, Dr. Kia went on to complete his subspecialty fellowship training in Interventional Endoscopy at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
