He served on the University of Queensland Animal Ethics Committee from 1987 to 1990 and was a member of the WHO International Atomic Energy Agency Committee for the application of stable isotopes to medical research 1989. He held numerous research grants in the field.
Dr Holt completed his medical training at the University of Queensland in 1997. He completed his advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2004. His interests include all aspects of Gastrointestinal and Liver disease, with a special interests include bowel cancer prevention and the provision of high quality colonoscopy and gastroscopy. He also performs Pill cam studies of the small intestine. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians , a member of the the American College of Gastroenterology, and the Gastroenterology Society of Australia. He consults full time in Ipswich and performs diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy at St Andrew’s Hospital Ipswich and the Mater Springfield Hospital.
